The silver material of Andrea Stanislav’s ghostly flags reflects its surroundings and calls to mind the military history of Fort Zachary Taylor and its many conquerors:  humans, wind, rain, sun and time. 

Stanislav is a PhD candidate in Media and Communication at the European Graduate School in Saas Fee, Switzerland.  She received her MFA from SUNY Alfred University, NY.  She has had many solo shows (three in 2009 in Ireland, Chicago and New York), numerous public art commissions, fellowships, grants awards and residencies from around the world.  Her work has been reviewed in dozens of art publications and newspapers.  She is an Assistant Professor of Art at the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities.  She lives in Minneapolis, MN.
