Sculpture Key West 2008 Takes Shape

Once again, Sculpture Key West brings contemporary art from around the world to Key West.   Sculpture Key West 2008 takes place at West Martello Tower, opening January 20 and Fort Zachary Taylor State Park opening February 24.  In addition, three pieces are planned for placement around the island community, notably a twelve-foot Loch Ness Monster installed in the pond near the police station on Truman and Eisenhower Ave!

This year features 34 artists selected by a jury panel headed up by Mary Ceruti, Director of the Sculpture Center in New York City.  Local, national and international artists are creating works for the exhibition, may of them built on site.  Participating artists include Robert Chambers (Miami), Karlis Rekevics (New York), Ralph Provisero (Miami), Cameron Gainer (New York), John Martini (Key West), Monika Goetz (Berlin, Germany), Robert Hickman (New York), Susan Rodgers (Key West) and more.

Two large pieces are planned for the Esplanade field at Fort Zachary Taylor.  Created by Lori Nozick (New York) and Aaron Lee Benson (Tennessee), these large-scale pieces are each over 100 feet long and will be the feature pieces in the large field.
