Performance with iceberg prints
15’ x 20’
Arrival – Key West is a continuation of artist Marek Ranis’ performance that took
place in Upernavik, Greenland in August 2009, and is part of his larger body of work “Albedo”. This 3 day “Living Sculpture Performance” combines local and tourist participants with 15 foot tall prints of drifting glacial icebergs unfurled at various locations around Key West including The Key West Tropical Forest & Botanical Garden, Smathers Beach, the Southernmost Point and Mallory Square.
Marek was awarded an M.F.A. with Distinction in Studio Art/ Sculpture from the Academy of Fine Arts in Wroclaw, Poland. He is currently Assistant Professor of Sculpture in the College of Art & Architecture, University of North Carolina at Charlotte.
