Cameron Gainer

Using iconic imagery to explore and elucidate the way pictures are constructed, New York artist Cameron Gainer makes touchstone images come to life. At once recognizable and playful, Gainer's work is exploring our visual collective culture. In addition, the artist adds another layer of meaning by exposing the language and signs we use to represent things by titling this work _/.

Gainer has exhibited extensively all over the world. He was recently an artist in residence at the Fabric Workshop and Museum in Philadelphia, PA, where he produced a limited edition of silk scarves based on this piece.
