Colorfield was conceived by New York artists Mike Ross and
Nicole Whelan, and engineered by Mike Ross. This kinetic work
encourages collective composition by allowing participants
to arrange the suspended panels and their hued shadows, transforming
the sculpture's shape and color. Ross and Whelan constructed
the work on site with SKW volunteers and a team of five other
artists: Jeff Stark, Brett The James, Touch, Irys, and Hannah
Dvornik. The project was made possible with the generous support
of Manley DeBoer Lumber Company and
Strunk Ace Hardware in Key West, Hansen Screen Company in
Texas, and
Norman Librett in New York.
