Jeff Downing teaches sculpture at San Francisco State University
where he received his MFA in 1992. His numerous solo and
group exhibitions have won him many prestigious honors and
awards. He writes, “For the past decade I have been
focusing on dog imagery in order to develop a better understanding
of the connection between human society and animals.”
Childhood memories, nature and dreams also play an important
role, along with the improvisational nature of the clay.
